The basic structure of diesel generator is composed of diesel engine and generator. The diesel engine drives the generator to generate electricity.
The basic structure of diesel engine is composed of cylinder, piston, cylinder head, inlet valve, exhaust valve, piston pin, connecting rod, crankshaft, bearing and flywheel. The diesel engine of diesel generator is generally a single cylinder or multi cylinder four stroke diesel engine. When the crankshaft of the diesel engine rotates, it drives the generator to rotate. The generator includes DC generator and AC generator.
The DC generator is mainly composed of generator casing, magnetic pole iron core, magnetic field coil, armature and carbon brush. Working power generation principle when the diesel engine drives the generator armature to rotate, due to the residual magnetism in the magnetic pole iron core of the generator, the armature coil cuts the magnetic line of force in the magnetic field. According to the principle of electromagnetic induction, the current is generated by magnetic induction and output through the carbon brush.
The alternator is mainly made of magnetic materials. A plurality of permanent magnets with alternating north and south poles are called rotor and an armature coil made of silicon cast iron and wound with multiple groups of series coils is called stator. Working principle of power generation the rotor is driven by the diesel engine to cut the magnetic lines axially. The alternating magnetic poles in the stator form an alternating magnetic field in the coil iron core. The rotor rotates for one circle. The direction and size of the magnetic flux change many times. Due to the transformation of the magnetic field, the induced current with variable size and direction will be generated in the coil and the current will be transmitted by the stator coil.

The diesel engine drives the generator to convert the energy of diesel into electric energy.
In the cylinder of the diesel engine, the clean air filtered by the air filter is fully mixed with the high-pressure atomized diesel injected by the fuel injection nozzle. Under the upward extrusion of the piston, the volume is reduced and the temperature rises rapidly to reach the ignition point of the diesel. When diesel oil is ignited, the mixed gas burns violently, and the volume expands rapidly, pushing the piston down, which is called "work". Each cylinder works sequentially in a certain order, and the thrust acting on the piston becomes the force to push the crankshaft through the connecting rod, so as to drive the crankshaft to rotate. When the brushless synchronous alternator is installed coaxially with the crankshaft of the diesel engine, the rotation of the diesel engine can be used to drive the rotor of the generator. Using the principle of "electromagnetic induction", the generator will output induced electromotive force and generate current through the closed load circuit. Diesel generator set is a type of AC power supply equipment of self owned power station. It is a small independent power generation equipment, which uses internal combustion engine as power to drive synchronous alternator to generate electricity.
